What You Should Bes Listening To Right Now.

Not only are they opening for Pearl Jam at MSG next week, but they are…(do I really have to say it…really…really? Fine, this is What You Should Be Listening To Right Now.

They are more the “most blogged about band” according to some unofficial statistics…they are the most hyped thing to come off this whole “internet” fad since last month’s next great noise pop band…and…they don’t even have an album out yet…all this off some CMJ hype…but you can find a some tracks out there and their album Treats (on M.I.A’s NEET imprint) drops next week…all of this combined proves to us that this is What You Should Be Listening To Right Now.

Just Rufus and a piano…What You Should Be Listening to Right Now.

What You Should Be Listening to Right Now…I know it isn’t out yet but it is streaming here.
I really wanted to throw the new MGMT album up on here, but I just couldn’t…it isn’t bad and they are still doing their weirdo, hipster thing, but it just isn’t on the level…yet…so when in doubt, go classic…Aesop Rock was my fave, but this album was the first Def Jux joint I ever loved…and now that my Sonos has refused to play Boys and Girls in America anymore, it is time to take a step back to a simpler time (2001)…The Cold Vein, the masterpiece that Vast Aire and Vordul Mega put together as CanOx…this is What You Should Be Listening to Right Now.

Maybe it has been the spring weather, maybe the NCAA tournament or maybe that waitress at Blue Seats the other night, but I am feeling that springtime party vibe and not many albums encapsulate that feeling better than The Hold Steady’s classic “Boys and Girls in America”…I dare you to throw on Massive Nights and not want to drink a beer outdoors with a bunch of friends…”The guys were feeling good about their liquor run, the girls were kinda flirting with the setting sun“…this is What You Should Be Listening to Right Now…God knows I am.

What You Should Be Listening To Right Now…

Yes, they played at Market Hotel with Surfer Blood this weekend…Yes, you should have been there…Yes, This is What You Should Be Listening to Right Now (although it doesn’t officially drop till March 9.)

My buddy Drunken Rambles came by the joint last night and over a bottle and a half of scotch we watched a home movie that we shot in Nawlins 15 years ago. Besides looking like little kids, the amazing part of the video was that here we were, all these years later, and we were essentially the same people…we still liked our scotch, our smokes and our music. As a salute to my musical roots I give you one of my favorite Dead Shows…Dicks Picks 35…it is definitely What You Should Be Listening to Right Now (and Forever).
